[FAC] Opera Festival: Host Families

California Opera Association 

California Opera Association seeks Host Families for guest artists and faculty of the 8th Annual Summer Opera Arts & Education Festival in Fresno, July 21 through August 4th.  

Another year of true international flair under the direction of Edna Garabedian, the opera will present nightly performances incorporating a world-wide cast of top-level singers into multiple works at the San Joaquin Gardens (5555 North Fresno Street) and at Tower Theatre (815 East Olive Avenue).  

Rigoletto (Verdi ) and Carmen (Bizet) and will be highlighted followed by full productions of La Divina (Pasatieri) and The Telephone (Menotti) concluding with the finale  - Lucia di Lammermoor (Donizetti). Special events planned for this season include Wagnerian highlights, guest artist recitals, outdoor youth concerts, and the very special participation of the Yeodo Childrens Orchestral Group from Yeosu Korea. 

Many artists have already been placed with Central Valley families for their stays, and we are looking to include new host families into this summer program. Festival Participants in need of Host Stays include: 

20 Adult Vocalists from Abroad. 
20 Adult Vocalists from America. 
10 Adult International Faculty. 
45 Children from Korea, ages 8 to 13  (Prefer Host Families with Other Young Children in Coarsegold/Southern Yosemite Mountain Areas). 

These Korean children are very talented elementary school students allowed to America to perform, to share their culture with us, and promote Korean collaboration through music. They will be playing traditional Asian compositions through unique drums, wind and string instruments while also performing youthful Korean opera works and song.
