ART, MUSIC AND DINNER IN THE MEADOW
1 to 8:30 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2007
Coarsegold Historic Museum, 31899 Hwy 41, just south of Lucky Lane
Dear Artists, members of Sierra Art Trails, Yosemite Western Artists and North Fork Arts Council:
2007 represents the fourth year of the successful Music in the Meadow museum fund-raising event. But this year is special, as we are expanding the event to include local artists and the Chukchansis.
The afternoon will offer several booths where our wonderful artists may display and sell their work and chat with the public from 1 to 8, demonstrations by the Chukchansis and by individuals hooking rugs and more! Beverages and snacks will be available all day. The evening offers lively, toe-tapping bluegrass and country music by the String Bandits from 5:30 to 8:30 and dinner served by the docents of the museum that may be eaten in the meadow where the band will play. (Note: Dinner will be $10 if a reservation is made by June 1: 642-4242. Dinner $12 with no previous reservation.) (Also, we suggest you bring your own comfy chair to enjoy your dinner and the music.)
During the day the Plein Air Artists will display the paintings they have created at the museum. Everyone in attendance will be invited to vote for a favorite painting, and at 7:30 the winner of the Popular Choice Award Exhibit will receive a check for $100 from the Coarsegold Historical Society.
PLEIN AIR
Plein Air painting dates will be March 23, April 13 and May 11 at 9 a.m. at the museum, 31899 Hwy 41, just south of Lucky Lane. Doug Boomer is scheduling a model dressed in Western Garb, or you can paint scenes of your choice including the Old Adobe Way Station, the Kennedy Barn or the Picayune Schoolhouse. There are also scenes in the three buildings of the museum that you might like to include in your paintings. If these dates do not work into your schedule, you are welcome to come by during museum hours and take photographs or paint. We are not accepting photography this year for the Popular Choice Award Exhibit. To get some ideas, go to www.coarsegoldhistoricmuseum.org and view the virtual tour. We ask that you exhibit no more than two paintings for this Popular Choice Exhibit.
We ask that paintings displayed be of professional nature with framing and wires for hanging. All paintings must in some way be identifiable with the Coarsegold Historic Museum. Artwork can be, but does not have to be for sale. Prices may be shown on your business card, and any sales will be handled by the artist. Please do not remove the artwork until after the award at 7:30.
Deadline to send in your entry form and $10 donation made to CHS is May 1, and mailed to Coarsegold Historical Society, PO Box 117, Coarsegold, CA 93614.
BOOTHS TO DISPLAY ART
There are several 10 X 10 booth spaces available. We will be jurying in, as we don't want to have all of one type of art. Two or more artists may share a booth (please note that on the form). Each artist is responsible for his/her tent/umbrella, tables, chairs and set up for the art. Deadline for the entry form and a $25 donation to CHS will be May 1. Arrival and set up time will be Friday, June 1, noon to 4. Delivery of artwork will be from 9 to 12:30 on Saturday, June 2. Take down of booths will be Sunday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. Please do not leave artwork overnight.
This is the time to have family and friends enjoy a delightful day and evening of art and music!
