A Day with the Artist - Chelsea Wilhite
Stellar Gallery is proud to continue its association with Sierra Art Trails.
The gallery showcases one Sierra Art Trails artist each month, and a
selection of donated works by Sierra Art Trails artists are available for
sale at the gallery on a regular basis. Mays Artist of the Month is Chelsea
Wilhite.
Drawings by Chelsea Wilhite
Chelsea Wilhite works with clay, pen, and pencil. Her images are emotive
and personal, a window through which we catch a glimpse of the artist's
inner self.
" Art is the product of passion and pen. Creativity is the collision of
inspiration and motivation. Imagination is the intersection of whimsy and
chance. May I have many twists, turns and magical collisions."
Chelsea's work will be on display at Stellar Gallery beginning May 15th, she
will be demonstrating her work on May 19th from 11 AM to 5 PM.
Sierra Saturday Art Hop
YWA Painters - Larry Potter and Juanita Smith
Saturday May 12th, 11AM to 5PM
In celebration of the Tri-County exhibit, Stellar Gallery will be featuring
two YWA painters during May's Sierra Art Hop, providing a unique opportunity
to meet with some of the artists participating in the Tri-County Exhibit.
Larry Potter is drawn to the beauty and peaceful atmosphere of this mountain
area. A skilled oil painter, Larry also experiments with pencil, pen and
ink, and pastels. His inspiration comes from our beautiful mountain
areas, still life, animals, and people.
Juanita Smith paints with the YWA painting group at the Gertrude
Schoolhouse. Painting along side well-known YWA artists like Putt Putman,
Anita Stoll, and Anne McClure has had a strong influence on Juanita, giving
her the confidence to experiment with new techniques and exhibit her work.
The Gertrude schoolhouse was built in 1913, and was closed to public
education in 1968. In 1979 the current owner, Harry Baker, offered the use
of the schoolhouse to Yosemite Western Artists to use for meetings, classes,
and workshops. Gertrude School re-opened its doors as the Yosemite Western
Artists Gallery, and is still the official headquarters for the organization
today.
About "Sierra Saturday Art Hop" - Sierra Art Hop takes place on the second
Saturday of every month, from 11 AM to 5 PM.
