It might be of interest to the list serve to know that there were  
applications from the central valley for the CCI grants. I also  
attended the first workshop, which seemed quite well attended by the  
arts community. And I did apply for one of the grants. The process  
was long and laborious, and I jumped through all the hoops to no  
avail. Most likely, there are others who did so also. I've heard this  
for about twenty years or more (that they want to award grants to  
central valley applicants). I've even sat on panels, but the bottom  
line is the grants still go to SF and LA. All I'm saying is hey,
