Fresno PARCS was successfully awarded two grants from the State of
California Department of Recreation for the replacement of the Fulton Mall's
two tot lots.  $50,745 was awarded from the Land and Water Conservation Fund
(LWCF), and $58,199 from the 2002 Bond Act, for a total of $108,944.  The
grants helped the us expand recreational opportunities for children by
replacing the 40 year old play structures with new playground equipment that
meet local and State health and safety standards and the Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA) access requirements for the physically challenged. 

 

The tot lot work on Fulton Mall is coming to a close and we're excited to
re-open these popular and now beautified play areas.  There are two that
have been refurbishedand we'll set up outside the larger one just down from
the County Health Dept at Fulton & Merced.  It sees a lot of use from
families utilizing County services.  Plus, I'm pleased to tell you that THIS
week happens to also be National Playground Safety Week, so our project
couldn't have been timed better!

Fresno Coalition, the Fresno Arts Council and the Downtown Association.
