CITY FLOATS FOUNTAIN IDEA FOR DOWNTOWN

The City of Fresno unveiled a very preliminary idea at City Hall last night for downtown Fresno that would include water fountains at various intersections and an installation that would have
streaming jets of jumping water on display throughout the historic Fulton Mall ( http://creating.lateupdate.com/index.php?n=Main.FultonMall ).

"CALL OF THE ENTREPRENEUR" SCREENED IN CLOVIS TUESDAY
 ( http://lateupdate.com/business/-call-of-the-entrepreneur-screened-in-clovis-tuesday.php )The 50-minute movie "Call of the Entrepreneur" was screened last night in Clovis, a city looking to reshape
itself as the Central Valley's mecca for big ideas in small packages.
The film features three entrepreneurs who have become successful with new ventures -- in their cases financially successful, but successful in overcoming great skepticism and hardship, which they say
is more valuable than money.
The film, which started shortly after 7 p.m. at the Clovis Memorial Building, was then followed by a panel discussion from four people who have either experienced the ups and downs of starting a
business or are actively engaged in helping new businesses get a foothold in the local market. Ladonna Snow of Clovis-based Snowflake Designs, Case Lawrence, CEO of Clovis-based CargoBay, Craig
Scharton, CEO of the Central Valley Business Incubator in Fresno, and Tim Stearns, director of the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Fresno State, were on-hand to field questions
from the audience.

PEPPER SPRAY INCIDENT ADDS SCRUTINY BY FIRE DEPARTMENT

An incident last week at The Exit, a music venue in central Fresno, has gotten the attention of the fire department about future events at the venue, and the capacity of the building.


Last Wednesday during a live show by Scary Kids Scaring Kids was broken up early after pepper spray was released by a security guard in the main room. A few minutes earlier, the fire department had
visited the building to do a night inspection and found that the room had too many people in it.
