The Alliance for California Traditional Arts is a state agency, based in
Fresno, that supports folk and traditional arts. That have impressive
programs to assist, develop and encourage individual folk artists and
organizations fostering traditional and folk arts. Their website has great
resources and they have well designed monthly email that lists lots of
funding opportunities.
Today, Tuesday, May 20th, 7-9 pm, they are holding a free information
meeting at their Fresno office - Alliance for California Traditional Arts.
1245 Van Ness Avenue, Fresno, CA 93721. Others informational meetings will
be held throughout the state, if you can¹t make today¹s meeting or you can
contact their local office.
The Alliance¹s Living Cultures Grants Program provides funding for nonprofit
organizations to support exemplary projects in the traditional arts. Grant
awards range up to $7,500. Application postmark deadline is July 15, 2008.
Projects may being January 1, 2009, and should end by December 30, 2009.
The Alliance¹s Apprenticeship Program encourages the continuation of the
state¹s traditional arts and cultures by making $3,000 contracts with master
artists to train qualified apprentices. Application postmark deadline is
August 1, 2008. Apprenticeships may begin January 1, 2009, and should end
by December 30, 2009.
The Alliance¹s Traditional Arts Development Program makes contracts up to
$1,500 to support consultancies, mentorship's, and travel opportunities that
foster a new level of growth for folk & traditional artists and
organizations. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
The Alliance¹s programs are made possible by the generous support and
partnership from the California Arts Council, the Columbia Foundation, the
Fresno Arts Council, the Walter & Elise Haas Fund, the William & Flora
Hewlett Foundation, the James Irvine Foundation, and the National Endowment
for the Arts.
