STUDENT-FILMED CSUF ADS GET SOME NYT LOVE

The "I Love Fresno State" student-driven ad campaign is getting some love on the New York Times Web site (  ), where a whole bunch of them are
featured for their online visitors, which number 146 million annually.


The I am Fresno State contest also recently won the Fresno Advertising Federation’s 29th Annual Central California ADDY Awards held March 14 in
Fresno, for the previous year's campaign.

RESOLUTION TO EXEMPT CITY PROJECTS FROM PREVAILING WAGES NOT PASSED

The city today discussed but eventually did not approve repealing its prevailing wages ordinance, which requires public works projects to pay all
workers employed not less than the general rate of per diem wages for holiday and overtime work. 


Union workers spoke against the motion and the Fresno chamber of commerce spoke in favor of it. The resolution was to be introduced by District 6
Councilmember Jerry Duncan, who said that there are certain projects that aren't feasible now because of these prevailing wage restrictions.

SUSPECT SOUGHT IN FRIDAY MORNING BANK ROBBERY

The Fresno Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in identifying a man who attempted to rob the Bank of America, located at 3411 W.
Shaw Ave.
Just prior to 10am on Friday, 05/16/08, a lone male entered the bank and demanded money from a single teller, threatening to hurt someone if he didn't
get money, police said.  The male then left the bank on foot.  No one in the bank was injured.  No weapon was seen.

2007 FRESNO COUNTY EMPLOYMENT STUDY: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The 2007 Fresno County Employment Study was conducted to determine current and future employer needs in the community. In order to determine
year-to-year employment trends, 75% of the same employers interviewed for the previous years’ study were surveyed again over a four-month period. A
total of 1,004 Fresno County employers participated in the survey, and indicated there are approximately 2,461 currently vacant positions.
