Family & friends-- Big News!

Hans York who recently performed at the May 10 Fresno Folklore Society concert  is one of the six 2008 winners of the Kerrville New Folk Festival singer/songwriter combination. Two of his songs from his new album YOUNG AMELIA were entered in the competition.  There were 800 entries and 32 semifinalists and six winners.    A win at Kerrville carries considerable prestige in the singer-songwriter community. This is in part due to the peer-professional judging and the festival’s long history of recognizing emerging artists who have later gone on to wider success.  The six winners are

New Folk Winners receive a cash honorarium from the Texas Folk Music Foundation, Vic & Reba Heyman, and the Jim Ross Memorial Fund.  Other prizes were provided by Performing                 Songwriter Magazine, Elixir                 Guitar Strings, Kyser                 Capos, and Intellitouch                 tuners from On-Board Research, and                                  ClimbOn! Products
