The President’s Gallery, in Thomas Administration Building, will be
hosting a reception for Faculty member, Nanete Maki-Dearsan, featuring
her intriguing large-sized mixed media paintings. 

We are presented with glimpses of her concepts as she continues to
resolve the visual language necessary to convey her thoughts of her
father, a brilliant artist, engineer, inventor and pilot who now has
alzheimers. Reflecting upon his life and his love of space exploration
led her to more in-depth research of Hawkins, Einstein, CERN, the Milky
Way, star maps, existentialism and exquisit humnity in general as the
primary elements in the alchemy of this exhibition. The work comes out
of a studio filled with thoughts of black holes, particle theory, matter
and anti-matter, thye interchcangeability of mass and energy, and
Sisyphus, but (mostly) with the surface of her paintings.

The reception will be open from 5:00-8:00PM on Thursday, October 9,
2008. It will coincide with the reception for the Faclty Show in the
Conley Gallery.


Parking is free in Parking Lot B. There is no charge for admission.
