[FAC] SEEKING ARTISTS: ART OF LIFE 2008

Calling all artists for a unique art project dedicated to women cancer
survivors.

 

California Oncology's

"The Art of Life" 2008 Exhibition

will be unveiled on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 

at the FSC West medical building

 

Here is how it works:

*	Each artist will be linked with a small group of women cancer
survivors during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October to
co-create a work of art. 

*	The artwork is about life, not about cancer, and will be created
under the vision and direction of the artist. 

*	The subject matter is open to interpretation and can be inanimate,
animate, or abstract; and the color palette should be rich and colorful. 

*	The artist will work with 3-4 survivors and will create a piece in
acrylic, oil, collage or mixed media on canvas. 

*	The work will be displayed unframed for the next 12 months and be
viewed by hundreds of guests each week who visit the building. 

*	The size of the canvas will be 36x36 

 

Here is what the artist will receive: 

*	A $250 honorarium per piece for the generosity of their time to
bring life in a unique way to women cancer survivors in this community. 

*	Plaque displayed by the art work throughout the year stating that
the piece has been created under the direction of the artist. 

*	Exposure to approximately 400 people expected to attend the
unveiling including signage, podium recognition and program recognition for
the artist. 

*	Web site exposure and link to the artist.   

 

We are looking for artists who:

*	Have patience, flexibility and a special place in their heart for
women cancer survivors. 

*	Are willing to think creatively on how a group of women might
co-produce a piece of art representing life in a unique way. 

*	Have the time in late Sept/early Oct to have some fun with this
one-of-a-kind opportunity.
