FREE WORKSHOP & LUNCH:
Remembering Literary Great Leo Politi
Footprints, Reflections & Shadows - Huellas, Reflejos y Sombras
Presenter Ann Stalcup: teacher, biographer of Leo Politi, and author of many
multicultural articles and books for children including a "Day of the Dead"
handbook for teachers.
FREE WORKSHOP &LUNCH on Saturday, October 4 from 1-4 pm

In the tradition of folklore and ritual, Ann Stalcup will put together an
altar of remembrance of the contributions of a locally born famous
children's author LEO POLITI in honor of his centennial in 2008. Politi
made enormous contributions to cultural awareness in his many children's
books. Ann will show how altars and Leo's story Three Stalks of Corn can be
the basis of a multicultural teaching unit for your fall classroom or

This autumn, Arte Americas will display many altars in tribute to authors.
Teachers and their classes are invited to visit the exhibition of altars
honoring other famous authors for the Dia de los Muertos (The Day of the
Dead) from October 7th through November 15. Materials and Politi books and
postcards will be available for purchase. Arte Americas is located in
downtown Fresno at 1630 Van Ness on the corner of Van Ness and Calaveras
across for the Metropolitan Museum.
