Meiru Huang will show a
series of oil paintings that demonstrate beauty in the mundane. Crumpled into
an abnormal form, a piece of paper transforms into a complex three dimensional
entity. Colors subtly change throughout the form. The nuances follow, to
reveal, to conceal, to merge and to part. It is omnipresent yet it is willing
to adapt without losing itself. It is ambiguous, but it can also be as certain
as a piece of steel.

Autumn
Lencioni’s installation of mixed-media works includes photographs from a small
stretch of the 180 freeway extension project.  Lencioni collects post-consumer containers (wooden boxes, glass jars, tea bags…) alongside organic matter (seeds, tree droppings, feathers…) then she
carefully works these elements into small scale assemblages.  Conceptually, her work explores the subtle
tensions between the man-made and natural environment through the physical
process of reclaiming fragments, reworking surfaces, and reconstructing the functionality
of her collections of material objects.
