Dance Xpress Biography:
Dance Xpress is an organization on the Campus of California State
University, Fresno. This Dance Team was founded in Fall of 2008 by Mikeisha
Tresevant, to enhance the students attractions to life on campus at CSUF.
This Dance team is special because it does not focus on one culture of
Dance. We consider ourselves a team that performs according to the Event.
For example, for Cinco De Mayo we performed a piece that expressed the
Mexican culture and for Black History Month in February 2009, we performed a
decade of routines that have evolved in the African American culture from
the 1900's until today. Dance is culture and we strive to experience all
races through that culture.
The team has 23 Members currently and having been going strong for a year
straight in over 30 big performances, not mentioning time of practice,
community service at the Boys and girls Club, and also our own personal
studies!!!
What is Dance?
Dance to me, is a language that I speak. Given already that body language is
over half of our communication, various messages can be interpreted through
the art of dance. It becomes an outlet when you are speechless. Dance allows
you to feel free with no limits of telling your story.
Why is dance important to you?
Dance is important because it creates who I am.
